Panama has a rainy and dry season. The dry season lasts from mid-December to mid-April, and the rainy season lasts from mid-April to mid-December. Temperatures are fairly constant, making Panama an all year destination.
October is the the wettest month and November is to be avoided too, because of the holidays meaning everything gets booked up.

The wet season is when nature is a lush green, with great opportunities for photographers. Rain comes in short bursts.
When visiting the Caribbean coast, the season are less well defined, with rain falling throughout the year. With climate change weather patterns are becoming more unpredictable.

Cruising: Cruise lines run through the Panama Canal from September to April.
Kayaking and Rafting: For calm waters the dry season is best. For a whitewater adventure you will want to be there when the rivers swell.
Surfing: On the Pacific Coast the best waves are from April to November. Then switch to the Caribbean side between December and March.
Snorkeling, scuba diving: The dry season is best for visibility. Scuba diving is amongst the best in the whole of South America.
Panama City is the jazz capital of Central America, and among the best things to do in Panama there is attending the Panama Jazz Festival which usually takes place each year in January.
