Contact us for custom trips to Panama.
For our trips to Panama, we buy most of the food in Panama City. buying certain produce that they are able to grow on the mainland for our trips, like yucca, plantains, certain squash-like vegetables, and fruit. There is a large produce market in Panama City with lots of produce that is grown in Panama. Things like carrots, cabbage, potatoes, lettuce, yucca, plantain, pineapple, tomato, cucumber, cilantro and other fresh herbs, melon, banana, papaya, coconut, watermelon, oranges, lemons and limes, etc. Avocado and mango are in season later in the year, though we can still get them, they come from other countries, along with apples, pears, and grapes. We can supplement the fruit and vegetables with corn-based products (corn cakes are very common), rice, lentils, and pasta. Because Panama City is so developed and international, it is easy to find many alternatives, including vegan and gluten-free options. Although, these alternatives are a lot more expensive than the prices you find in countries like the U.S. Snacks that we can easily find in Panama are nuts and raisins, and there are a lot of varieties of snack granola bars.
